Day 3 of our trip was going to be spent at the National Zoo and Aquarium. For some reason, I had imagined that if this was the NATIONAL zoo and aquarium, it was going to be this awesome place showcasing our Aussie and international animals. I assumed that it was going to be even better than Taronga…I LOVE Taronga Zoo.
Granted we went on a miserable day, sprinkling with rain. My main concern was that the paths around the zoo were dirt paths and by the time we finished walking around the zoo, our shoes were going to be muddy and we had to get back in the purty Koleos with those muddy shoes!
I have a problem with paths and walkways not leading anywhere so having to walk up a path to look at one animal and find the path a dead end and having to walk back the way we came to see the next exhibit was a little frustrating. Having walkways that flow from one exhibit to the next would have made the walk around the zoo much more enjoyable.
But apart from that, we all had a fun time seeing the animals, even though we had to run for cover a couple of times when the rain came down.
I took so many photos of all the animals…Bill said that I was taking the tourist part too seriously LOL
The rest of the photos will be uploaded to Flickr if you’re interested in having a look
Personally I don’t think the National Zoo and Aquarium is anywhere as good as Taronga Zoo in Sydney but if you’re in the area and are interested in visiting, you can find more information on the website.
