I have to say that every time my friend Scarlett and I go on an excursion, it always turns out to be an adventure.

Today we decided to visit the Rhododendron Gardens in Mt Pleasant, with her son and one of my girls, Giorgia.

What started as a pleasant experience turned into a traumatic, nightmare-inducing one…for me.We started at the duck pond and walked around the gardens…

…and we took photos of our kids…

We then noticed that there was a bush walk. We weren’t too sure how long it was or how difficult (as in difficult for people wearing thongs (flip flops) and flats). We started, anyhow and very quickly regretted it LOL

It was when we stopped to catch our breath and realised that Scarlett and Giorgia had a leech on them, that we decided that we’d had enough and found the quickest way back.

It was only once we returned to the duck pond and started eating our lunch that Scarlett asked me what was on my neck. Giorgia (quite loudly) announced it was a leech and….

…at this time I’ve decided to not write about how I handled the situation because I refuse to validate the fact that I’m a wuss. LOL Of course, if you are a Facebook friend of mine, you would have been entertained with Scarlett’s recount of how things happened. Thanks, Scarlett! LOL

I was SAVED by a lady who lives across the road from the gardens. She was kind enough to pour salt on me and get the dirty little sucker off me.

And now you know why I DON’T DO bushwalking!
