Bunker down!

While we were out and about yesterday taking photos, one of my girlfriends and I thought it’d be a great idea to go into the Port Kembla bunkers but we didn’t want to go in there by ourselves. So today we got Bill, Giorgia, Annabelle and my friend’s two kids and some torches and headed over there.

I have to say that it did make me a little nervous walking through there (and there would be NO WAY I would walk through there at night like this lot!) because even with torches, it was still quite dark.

The whole place has been unfortunately covered in graffiti and there was rubbish scattered around.

But it would be so cool if it was restored and heritage-listed.

At one stage, I felt something touch my arm and I screamed. It was just a piece of cable but my heart started pumping so fast, I figure that the adrenalin running through my veins would probably do more than ephedrine!

Looks fascinating, I would not want to be there alone or after dark either.
  • Nothing like a little adventure. I think it's sad that they aren't heritage listed, I know some in other areas are.
  • We have lots of such Bunkers in the UK but sadly most are off limits.
