My washing powder box has shrunk! And while browsing the shelves at my local supermarket, I noticed that a lot of the boxes and bottles are now half the size.
That’s because 40% of the nation’s laundry detergents, including Cold Power, Dynamo, Fab (my favourite!) and Hurricane have made the switch to a more concentrated formula but still offer the same number of washes and cleaning performance.
“This is an unprecedented change, with our entire range of laundry detergents changing at the same time,” said Colgate-Palmolive’s General Manager Chris Pedersen. “It has effectively revolutionised the look of the laundry aisle.”
So what does that mean to you and me?
It’s means that when we buy a whole heap of boxes because our washing powder is on sale, we’re only lugging half the weight! Which is a plus for me because when it’s on sale, I usually buy 10 – 20 boxes! And of course, with smaller packaging, it also means less impact on the environment.
Colgate-Palmolive also says that the move to 2x Ultra Concentrate will generate significant environmental benefits such as less plastic and board used in the manufacturing process and also an estimated 30 million fewer kgs/litres of detergent consumed annually nationwide.
I was sent a 500g box of Cold Power to try out and it DID last as long as a 1kg box would have lasted me. It provided me with the same clean results and left a faint scent on the clothes, which I love.
