Average isn’t 2 adults, 2 kids anymore

Why is it, that when you buy a family ticket, it’s for 2 adults and 2 children?! Seriously, that isn’t an average family anymore!

With the Christmas/Summer holidays just a couple of weeks away, I’ve been collating some ideas for outings and things to do with the family.

One of the places on our list is Taronga Zoo. I checked out the website today and and as well as purchasing the "family ticket", I will have to pay for 2 more adult tickets for William and Tiesha. Annabelle will get in for free.

It would be so much better for families if the "family ticket" was 2 adults and 3-4 children. Having more than 4 children makes it very expensive to go out and if the family ticket was changed, then you’d probably find that more families would go to these places.

What do you think? Should the family ticket be changed?

My perfect family is no kids.. so... I'm the minority! :D

I guess change will only happen when the demand is needed. The more people that contact them and say "Well, how much for a family of x, y or z" then the operators of the establishments will realise and hopefully change their packages.

That's my 2 cents.

I think it should be modified for each individual family...

We have 2 kids, 2 adults in this family. Even with the "small" family, we can barely afford to go the zoo because it's $25 for all of us.

I agree, it seems that everyone has this idea of the perfect family size. 2 adults, 2 kids, but it's just not that way anymore.

We have a zoo pass - it's the only place we go cause we can't afford even our two adults and two kids (M goes free still) for most places! How sad... but I've always wondered if the 1.6 or whatever children is still the average these days. I know a heck of a lot of people with three kids!
