William (DS16) asked me today if he could travel with his 18 year old friend to Adelaide (about 1200km or 730miles) so his friend can visit with her grandparents after school finishes.
My initial reaction was to give him all sorts of excuses (some true, some not so true) as to why he couldn’t go:
“Oh, no! You need travel insurance and we can’t afford it!”
“It’s illegal for you to travel that far without an adult!”
But then I thought for a moment and said:
“No, because you’re only 16 and I’m your mum and what I say goes!”
Wonder how much longer THAT excuse is going to work for me! LOL
