We got through the “putting everything in your mouth” stage four times without too much trouble but we had to have ONE child that would test our patience in that area, didn’t we?!
I really think I need to record myself saying “don’t put that in your mouth!” and “take that out of your mouth!” and “that’s not for eating!” so I can just play it back the umpteenth hundred times I need to say it a day.
One thing that really concerned me though was when I noticed that the electrical outlet safety caps that I bought from the supermarket were small enough for the baby to put in her mouth. I try to make sure that when one of the safety caps have been removed so we can plug in a cord, that the safety cap is put up high out of the reach of the baby but some people aren’t as careful as I am and sometimes she manages to get her grubby little fingers on one.
So I was impressed when I received an email from George, the inventor of Safety Caps. He has created safety caps that are wider. If the child can’t get it in their mouth, they can’t choke, right? Pacifier-inspired air holes give added safety.
I’m not sure if these kind of safety caps are available in Australia but I’m definitely going to have a look for them. And you should too! No child should choke on something that is meant to protect them!
