It’s a boy!

I found out today that my cousin and his wife welcomed their first child to the world this morning – a little boy!

And typical as my cousin is, that was all the information we received. No time, no weight, no length, OR name!

I guess I’ll have to wait to get all the details from my aunty…lol

Where’s the baby going to sit?!

We have a six seat dining table which was big enough for us up until now. The baby is big enough now to sit with us at the table when we have our meals.

It’s amazing how high chairs have changed over time. When our son was born (16 years ago), the high chairs were basic. There were no models that could be adjusted to different levels or even able to recline.

We just have one of the basic high chairs that my dad and step-mum bought for the baby. We have taken the tray off it and put it up to the table so she can sit and eat with us. As she gets older still, we’re going to have to get a bigger dining table so we can all fit around it!

Silence in the household

If you’ve been following me on twitter, you’d know that I lost my voice a couple of days ago.

I still have a really sore throat and my voice has been coming and going. My doctor has said to try and give my voice a rest.

Ummm, hello! You have been my doctor for 12 years. You KNOW that I have absolutely now way of giving my voice a rest because I have 5 kids! It’s like when the doctor says “try to sleep when the baby sleeps” when the doc knows you also have a toddler or three running around *rolling eyes*

So, instead of feeling sorry for their poor mama and bringing her a cup of soothing lemon tea or mint chocolate throat soothers, they have been working together (first time for everything!) to encourage me to “yell” at them so they can have a laugh!

DD15 thought it was hilarious to stand down the hallway with her hand up to her ear and say “Pardon mum, we can’t hear you”.

Now you would think that knowing what’s good for him being the responsible parent that DH is, he would have gently reminded the children that their mama is not feeling well and that they shouldn’t be little sh!ts making it more difficult.

But NO! I catch him on the phone laughing, telling his mate how peaceful it has been because I have lost my voice.

You’d think that I yell all the time if you took any notice of this lot. Believe me, I don’t yell ALL THE TIME. LOL

Stick with what works

I refuse to buy any more acne treatments! We seem to have found the one that works for my teenagers but because DD15’s friends are trying some other product, DD15 decides that she NEEDS to get that one now!

I think it’s just a matter of her trying to “keep up with the Joneses” and I’ve told her that if she wants to get anything else, she can pay for it out of her money. Just because the product comes in a prettier bottle DOES NOT mean it’s a better product and why change when the one she’s currently using is keeping her skin clear?

I found my safe spot!

You know how you go to put something away and you end up putting it in your “safe spot” but then you go looking for it and you can’t find it?

Well, that’s what I did with DH’s pocket watch. It had stopped working and I put it away until I had a chance to take it to the jewellers to get it fixed along with one of my bracelets.

I was cleaning out a basket that was stashed at the back of my wardrobe and I found the watch and bracelet after searching for it for months!

Really good safe spot, hey?! LOL
