Tidy kids’ wardrobes?

Posted on May 17th, 2008 at 11:46 am by Tina

Is this possible? Are kids capable of keeping their wardrobes tidy? Maybe it’s just my lot that are feral…lol I don’t know how many times I’ve gone into the girls’ bedroom only to find shorts, t-shirts and other clothing exploding out of the wardrobes!

I don’t know how to organise it in a way that will help them keep it tidy. At the moment, DD15 has her own wardrobe which is kept tidy but the problem wardrobe is the one that DD’s 12 and 8 have to share. There’s not enough space in the bedroom for another wardrobe to be added so they don’t have to share. They have one side each with drawers underneath. The hanging items aren’t too bad. It’s mainly the t-shirts, shorts and jumpers that are folded up that end up on the floor when they are trying to get one in particular.

Any suggestions as to how to help my girls keep their wardrobes tidy?

I have managed to keep my kids wardrobes under control by limiting the amount of clothes that they have. They really didn’t need 4 pairs of jeans each….lol! If the kids have trouble parting with their clothes hang them up on hangers facing the opposite way to how they are normally hung up. When anything is washed and hung back up, hang it up as you normally would. After a month you will clearly see by the direction of the hangers what is being worn and what isn’t.
I only keep the current seasons clothes in the wardrobe, out of season clothes are kept in plastic boxes in the garage.
All clothes get hung up as we don’t have any shelving or draw space. I have found it much easier for the little kids to find their own clothes this way.

That’s all I can think of at the moment, I hope it has helped :)

Hi! We were never lucky enough to have daughters but with our boys we just closed their bedroom doors to hide the mess.
