Our birthday traditions
We seem to have a birthday tradition that sorta came about by itself!
Each time it’s someone’s birthday, we all gather on DH and my bed to open gifts. It’s probably because the kids get up at the crack of dawn on their birthdays and are so excited, they’re up before us!
So this morning was no different. DD8 sat on our bed with her gifts piled up in front of her. Poor DH got woken up with her excited chatter. I’m sitting there trying to keep my eyes open!
She got an electric toothbrush, clothes, craft sets, this bubble thing that she wanted and…

…Beados! I think, by the look on her face, that the Beados was her most favourite gifts…LOL

We have a birthday tradition too. When my son turned six I left six post it notes where he could find them. A couple years later he got eight hidden birthday cards; the following year he got cards for years one through nine. Two years ago my daughter had to find seven vintage bells I bought on eBay that her brother had hidden around the house, and this year she got eight presents arranged on the kitchen counter.
Post it notes were a lot easier (and less expensive) but the hidden gifts are more fun. This year my daughter is giving her brother eleven books.
Family birthday traditions should be treasured. When we were kids our father used to read us Dr. Seuss’s Birthday Book every year, and he continues the tradition with our kids now.

Gosh it sounds like Christmas! Happy birthday to your dd
I can’t wait to read about how the party goes. I’m sure it will be lots of fun for her and her friends.

Sounds like she had a lovely day! That toy does look fun. Funny how a company can bounce back after such a huge recall of their toys. Hopefully those are safer. Sorry MOM in me coming out.

That is so sweet! I like learning about family traditions. But I’ve never heard of Beados. My kids are all older and I am out of the loop. Is it known in America, or is it something particular to Australia. Happy B-day to your daughter.
I LOVE your crispy pita recipe, BTW. Mmmmm.
