13 things I need to do before the Pirate Party

Thirteen Things I need to do before the Pirate Party

1…. Buy the food and drinks.
2…. Buy the lollies for the pinata and the goody bags.
3…. Write out the tags for the goody bags.
4…. Make up the goody bags.
5…. Get DS16 to mow the grass and weed the gardens in the back yard.
6…. Make other arrangements in case of bad weather.
7…. Find the fishing line to hang up all the decorations.
8…. Call the people who haven’t RSVP’d yet.
9…. Make sure that stepmum is still cool with organising the cupcakes and birthday cake.
10… Check if I have spare batteries for the camera.
11… Make some of the food a few days ahead.
12… Buy the blank cards to enclose the group photo for each kid.
13… Make sure there’s a bottle of Scotch waiting for me for after all the kids go home!

  1. A pirate party, how fun. That sounds like a great time!

  2. There is a 14th thing you should add to the list, have 911 ready on your speed dial. I had a pinata party for my daughter on her 3rd birthday party and the results were disastrous. I ended up in the hospital and my daughter was traumatized. Anyone considering a pinata party should really educate themselves about what a danger these “events” really are.

  3. @Ron, I totally agree with you that pinatas are dangerous.
I don’t buy the type that you whack with a stick! The ones I buy are the pull down ones with strings hanging down. I’ll share photos after the party which is on Saturday.

  4. Whew! Pull string pinatas are a great alternative. Hope your party goes well!
