The pirates are coming!

So, May 9 is DD7’s 8th birthday and we’re just having family drop in for cupcakes in the afternoon because it’s a school day. On the Saturday, she is having a pirate party and is inviting some of her friends.

I’ve been buying stuff for this party for a few months now and have a huge plastic tub full of goody bag items, decorations and STUFF!

Above: some of the goody bag items, DD7’s goblet, napkins and little flags (which I’m going to use as part of the table decorations).

We’re holding the party at home in the backyard (so please pray for good weather!). We’re putting up the big gazebo and setting a large table for all the guests - there’s 10 kids all up.

Above: DD7’s costume, tattoos, bunting, a “pin the pirate on the island” game and a pirate “pull down” pinata (I think the traditional pinatas are dangerous. We’ve had a few accidents with kids getting a little too enthusiastic with the pinata blaster! lol)

If I get a chance, I’m going to get some sand delivered so we can create an island. I have a small treasure chest - like box that I can place slightly buried in the sand.

We’re going to have a treasure hunt, and I still need to search for some more pirate-themed games.

For food, it’s just going to be normal party food on request by DD7 - party pies, sausage rolls, fairy bread, marshmallows, chips, lollies, etc

Oh, and the invitations are “messages in bottles”:

The party sounds like it will be a lot of fun. :)

  3. We had an excellent pirate party for my sons 6th birthday. I dressed up as Captain Hook and we had many of the games that you are going to do. The message in a bottle invatations are fantastic.

  4. I’ve said it before, but I really love the theme of the birthday party and I think the invite thing is just so cool!

Did you decide on how you were going to do the invites after all? Sand loose or in the packet?

I hope you have some beautiful weather for the party!

  5. I decided to have the sand loose in the invitations. I figure it makes it look a bit more “authentic” and plus, they won’t be opening them in my home…lmao!

  6. I’m going to say this again, sorry, but you should be a party planner. Sell parties in a box or something like that. Another awesome party planned by Mummifiedx5 :)
