The boy is allowed to drive!

DS16 passed his driver’s knowledge test today which means he is a learner driver! I’m so proud of him! He came out of the examination area and gave me a double thumbs up with a huge grin on his face…Wow, my first born is now legally old enough to start driving!

So instead of heading home, we filled the car up with petrol and drove to a quiet area near the rubbish tip so he could drive. He got in the driver seat, put on his seatbelt, checked his mirrors and off we went. He did really well – handled the car very well and he watched his speed. I won’t mention that he over-steered a little, turned the corner and ended up on the wrong side of the road when turned a corner and when I asked him to pull over, he mounted the gutter.

Seriously though, it was the first time driving and he did well. It’ll take a little while for him to get used to it because we do own a van (I call it the bus) so it will be different when he drives in a little car.

He has 3 pre-paid lessons with a driving school (thanks to my sister and her DH), one of which he will take soon so he can learn the “proper” way to drive.

So, from a cute little tot on a trike…..

we now have a teen driver in the mummified household…

God help us all…LOL
