Staff don’t get enough training
When I was working in retail, the company I worked for provided training for staff monthly in regards to customer service and professionalism. It seems that these days, good customer service isn’t that important anymore - well, it seems that way to a certain chain store that we went to today. The checkout operators seem to be getting younger and some of them have major attitude problems. I seriously think that this chain store should spend some money on staff training and talent management and remind their staff that it is the customers that keep their business afloat.

Absolutely agree with you. Seems like this is happening everywhere. I simply avoid shops and restaurants with bad customer service.
