If I had found the pet friendly hotels website before my sister and I embarked on our road trip many years ago with her dog, it probably would have been a more pleasant experience - for us and her dog!
Her dog wasn’t meant to be coming with us but the people who were meant to watch him decided at the last minute that they couldn’t so we had no choice but to take him with us. Unfortunately, he didn’t enjoy travelling in the car as much as we did.
I don’t know how many times he took off on us when we stopped to have a break and we’d be chasing after him like idiots, calling his name, whistling and doing everything we could to try and coax him back into the car. Before our last stop, I asked my sister why she didn’t just put his lead on him so we could have stopped him from running. Her reply - she didn’t think of that!
So I guess that is why websites like the Official Pet Hotels website is a good resource for clueless pet owners. If we’d read the pet travel tips before we left, it would have been less stressful!
