Who are you….
….and what did you do with my DD7??
It is absolutely POURING rain outside and I said to DD7 that she could stay home if she wanted because she already has the start of a cold and I didn’t want her to get more sick.
But she told me she wants to go to school! This coming from the child who says “Mum, I have a bruise! Can I stay home today?!” LOL

5 mummified-isms heard this morning
1. Keep your head still or your pony tail will be crooked!
2. Get off the phone!
3. No, you can’t have your lollipop for breakfast!
4. Just wait till YOU have kids!
5. Where’s Baby A’s dummy (pacifier)?
Yeah, it was a good morning *insert rolling eyes here*

Baby-sitting issues
When each of our babes were babies, they came with us everywhere. We didn’t leave them with family to baby-sit for us for any reason. It probably wasn’t until they were at least 1 year old that we let them stay with someone other than ourselves.
Now it’s not that we don’t trust our family to look after our children. It’s because they are my babies and I develop a very close attachment to them, as they do with me, and I don’t want anyone else to look after them. This may be weird to some people but this is how I was with each of them and this is how I am with Baby A too.
So lately a certain family member has been trying to make me feel guilty because I won’t let her baby-sit Baby A. She keeps saying things like “I’ve looked after “—-” and she’s still alive!”
How can I get her to understand that it’s not that I don’t trust her, (she’s looked after my older babes many times), it’s just that the baby stays with me. I’m even like this with DH sometimes. He says I should leave Baby A with him while I go shopping or whatever but I prefer to take her with me.
Am I just too over-protective of my babies?

Like pulling teeth…….
Clothes shopping with teenage girls. I can’t think of anything worse to do but that’s what I’m doing today. DD14 and my friend’s 14yr grand-daughter who stayed the night with us want to go shopping.
The last time I took DD14 shopping for clothes, by the end of the day I was looking for a dark, quiet corner so I could curl up fetal position-like, rocking back and forth, mumbling to myself…………OK, it wasn’t that bad…LOL…but it was quite painful. DD14 is VERY fussy and I have learnt that when she asks me if I like a particular item, and I say yes, she doesn’t like it because it mustn’t be cool if mum likes it! *rolling eyes* I’m waiting for the time in life where my DD stops rebelling against me and becomes my friend!
Anyhoo, back to shopping today. I think I might just take a book with me, stop at my fav coffee shop in the shopping centre and wait there while the girls shop. They can come and find me when they are done!

My grandparents upcoming anniversary
My paternal grandparents will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in January 2008 and I want to give them a special gift. I was thinking that I might get a photo pillow from a Personalized Birthday Gifts website and get photos of all my aunts, uncles, cousins, my parents, sister, and us printed on it.I love to give gifts that have a special meaning and knowing my grandmother, something like this would have pride of place in her home because family means everything to her and my grandfather.
The pillows are made of quality fabric and if looked after correctly, they won’t fade so this gift would last a very long time. I can choose how many photos I want printed on there and even have some text printed….maybe something like “Happy 50th Anniversary!”
50 years of marriage is nothing to sneeze at! A photo pillow celebrating our family would be the perfect gift for them! Now just to get in touch with everyone to get recent photos of all the family.
