Gift card presentation

gift_card I don’t give a lot of gift cards/vouchers as gifts but if I do, I don’t like to just present it in an envelope. I want to be able to make it more fun. I asked my Facebook friends for some suggestions and they mentioned putting the gift cards in:

  • a balloon bouquet
  • little gift boxes
  • a Christmas cracker
  • trinket boxes

For those crafty people, you could make cute little cardboard envelopes using pretty papers and embellishments. Or, if the voucher is a paper one, putting it in one of those glass or plastic ornaments and hang it on the Christmas tree.

Another idea to make giving a gift card more personal is to add a small gift with it. For example, if you know your sister likes dogs, give the gift card with a small book of dog quotations. If your mum likes bath gels, give her one along with a gift voucher to buy her favourite bath gels.

Can you think of any other ways to present a gift card?

Christmas stars

What can we make with some paddle pop (popsicle) sticks, glue, salt and ribbon?

Some Christmas stars!

We glued the paddle pop sticks into star shapes.

Then we covered them with glue and sprinkled on the salt for a crystal effect.

Now to decide where to hang them all!

37 and 36

100countdown OK trying to keep on top of the 100 days to Christmas now…we’ll see how long it take me to fall behind again LOL

The challenge for Day 37 was the powder room. Because our bathroom is so small, even just 1 towel and jammies left on the floor makes the room look like it’s trashed! I got stuck into it yesterday, with the girls help, so we just need to do a daily wipe over and pick up the dirty laundry to keep it tidy. I still need to soak the shower curtains though…they’re looking a bit sad.

Day 36’s challenge is to hit the floor running. I vacuum once a day, sometimes even twice a day if it needs it. The kitchen floor and dining room floor gets mopped by Bill (I heart him!) and the bathroom, laundry and toilet floors get mopped by whoever has been assigned to clean those rooms.

Cleaning. Cleaning. Cleaning. Never ends!!

Santa’s helper!

elf-toonclub Under the Christmas tree every year, there is a small plastic tub, with a label that says “Santa’s helper”.

Inside it is everything we might need on Christmas morning. Things like:

  • batteries (as I wrap gifts, I keep a list of the battery sizes and how many needed for each gift and toss the batteries in the tub)
  • small set of screwdrivers (to insert batteries, put toys together, etc)
  • scissors
  • rubbish bag (for discarded wrapping paper)

Can you think of anything else that may come in handy?

Cryptic message

Sometimes it takes a certain person to say something that others may have said in the past and you chose to ignore. But it’s different thing time and it’s like you have an “a ha! moment” (like Oprah says).

So I’m stepping back and taking a moment to decide whether I want to go left or right.

I know this all sounds so cryptic but it’s all good and 2010 looks promising.

I should start charging!

OMG! My house has turned into an internet cafe!

We were recently asked to review some laptops and since 5 of them were sent, each Mummified kid currently has their own to play on…

…they’ve already decided which is their favourite but I’ll tell you their (and my) opinion about the laptops another time.

In the meantime, looking at this photo, I really REALLY need to get some prints or something for those blank walls!

Edit: the crooked table runner is really annoying me but I refuse to take another photo just so the runner is straight…bloody OCD lol
